Goettl Shares Some Tips for Keeping Cool in the Summer

The professionals at Goettl want to help you improve your cooling efficiency and lessen your energy bill at the end of the month. If you have seen a spike in the amount you’ve been paying during the summer in energy costs, it could be due to a number of issues that could be easily avoided. Have you weatherproofed your home lately? Have you been maintaining your HVAC system and replaced the filter since it’s been sitting over the winter? While these quick fixes may be a no-brainer, it’s easy to forget sometimes that your cooling system might require a bit of maintenance here and upkeep here and there, especially if you have a particularly busy schedule.

One of the tips that Goettl would suggest would be to fill in any gaps and cracks you might have in your walls, windows, and doors, leading to the cold air coming out of your HVAC system coming in and then slipping right back out. Remember also to keep your unit in the shade and out of direct sunlight, since the sun will be heating up the metal of the unit and will cause what should be cold air to come out warmer than it ought to. Keeping your thermostat away from direct sunlight will benefit you for the same reason.

Goettl’s High Desert Mechanical has its roots beyond its startup year of 1987, when it was formed by brothers Adam and Ted Goettl. The Goettl family has a rich history in the heating and air conditioning industry, dating as far back as 1926, when their grandfather and his siblings began their endeavors in heating and air conditioning, before moving out to Phoenix, Arizona seven years later. This was during the Great Depression, where they made a huge impact in advancing heating and air conditioning technology through numerous patents.
